MODEL MAKING
It is a general understanding that villagers lack technology and skills. They learn whatever they can from their forefathers. But such skills do not find them enough employment or self-employment.
Villagers are not considered fit for industries too, as they do not have the required skills. But we all fail to identify the inborn skills of villagers, that they create solutions for their everyday requirements, without help from any industry or institute. All it needs, is to refine their skills, so that they can make such solutions, their livelihood too. Also a lot of industrial solutions can be brought down to cottage industry levels, so that they can produce a lot of goods, without much infrastructure. Do you want to be one of those ‘Phunsuk Wangdu’ or ‘Ranchordas’, who created technological solutions for rural areas, with available resources there? Can such solutions of yours generate employment in villages? What kind of alternative energy devices can improve infrastructure and generate employment there? What kind of improved farming technology can generate employment there? What kind of efficient waste management generate employment there? Can..... Can..... Put your thoughts together and see how you can develop simple Technologies, that can help in generating enough employment in rural areas, so that villagers do not have to migrate to urban areas. Create a simple WORKING MODEL of your solution, and bring it at PEHAL-2013. The most innovative, simple, practical solutions will get the awards, and also get nominated for Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award .
